The third edition of La Guarimba was proof that the now three year old social movement is a powerful and valuable venture. Directors, illustrators, and volunteers from all over the world gathered in La Grotta Natural Park in Amantea, the staging grounds for the festival’s screenings, exhibitions, and laboratories, for a long weekend of film, art, and fun.
The official selection of documentary, fiction, and animation shorts was meant to challenge rather than purely entertain, and it found an audience of more than a thousand viewers.
Vimeo’s representation at the festival enriched this year’s content with the first-ever European conference on independent distribution and Vimeo On Demand, as well as the screening of a special program curated by Sam Morrill.
2015 was a year of growth, a year of being conscious of what we are and what we can be, and a year of a developing awareness that bringing the cinema back to the people and the people back to the cinema is a mission both possible and necessary.
